Frequently asked questions

Have questions? We’re here to help

What is the ideal surface for installing a seasonal ice rink?

The best surfaces for a seasonal ice rink are flat, hard areas like concrete or asphalt, which provide stability, efficient chilling, and minimal maintenance. Grass or compacted dirt can also work if properly leveled. Ideally, the surface should have no more than a 6-inch difference between the highest and lowest points for consistent ice thickness and safe skating. If the grade exceeds 6 inches, we can install gravel to level the area and ensure a smooth rink surface.

What type of power supply is required?

A 480-volt, 3-phase power switch is required for the chillers, with the amps depending on the rink’s skating surface size. A simple calculation to estimate amps is: (Rink square footage ÷ 35) × 2.

Single-phase power options are also available if needed.

What type of water supply is required for an ice rink?

An ice rink requires a fire hydrant or comparable water source nearby to fill the rink. Once filled, a standard water spigot is sufficient to maintain ice quality and refill the ice resurfacer—warm water is ideal for the resurfacer but not required.

How quickly can the rink be installed?

Installation timelines depend on the size of the rink and the site’s accessibility, with most projects planned for 8–12 days. Expedited services are also available for faster setup if needed.
